THE MISFITS

The Misfits are an American rock band often recognized as the progenitors of the horror punk subgenre, blending punk rock and other musical influences with horror film themes and imagery. Founded in 1977 in Lodi, New Jersey by singer and songwriter Glenn Danzig, the group had a fluctuating lineup during its first six years with Danzig and bassist Jerry Only as the only consistent members. During this time they released several EPs and singles, and with Only's brother Doyle as guitarist, the albums Walk Among Us (1982) and Earth A.D./Wolfs Blood (1983), both considered touchstones of the early-1980s hardcore punk movement. The Misfits disbanded in 1983 and Danzig went on to form Samhain and then the eponymously-named Danzig. Several albums of reissued and previously unreleased material were issued after the group's dissolution, and their music became influential to punk rock, heavy metal, and alternative rock music of the late 1990s and early 2000s. After a series of legal battles with Danzig, Only and Doyle regained the rights to record and perform as the Misfits. They formed a new version of the band in 1995 with singer Michale Graves and drummer Dr. Chud. This incarnation of the Misfits had a sound much more rooted in heavy metal, and released the albums American Psycho (1997) and Famous Monsters (1999) before dissolving in 2000. Jerry Only then took over lead vocals and recruited former Black Flag guitarist Dez Cadena and former Ramones drummer Marky Ramone for a Misfits 25th Anniversary tour. This lineup released an album of cover songs entitled Project 1950 and toured for several years. In 2005 Ramone was replaced by Robo, who had played with Black Flag in the early 1980s and had also previously been the Misfits' drummer from 1982 to 1983. This lineup released a single titled "Land of the Dead" in 2009. GORE BEYOND NECROPSY

Gore Beyond Necropsy (GBN) was the name of a musical group formed in 1989 in Hadano city, Kanagawa prefecture, Japan. The group have had a prolific output of releases. They play a hybrid style of chaotic grindcore/noisegrind which they refer to as "Analdrillinggrind Harshit Core!!". In 1997, Gore Beyond Necropsy undertook their first tour outside Japan when they toured Australia with Victoria's Warsore and returned the compliment by arranging Japanese dates for Warsore and issuing a split 7" single through Sterilized Decay Records. As well as doing numerous split releases, they have also collaborated with Japanese noise artist Merzbow. Their shared album Rectal Anarchy release by Relapse Records was far from subtle; the album cover was graced by an enlarged anus and the songs were warped cover versions revolving around the theme of scat. DOOM

Doom are an English crust punk band from Birmingham, England, whose first, influential lineup were together from 1987 to 1990. Despite its short existence, the band is considered pivotal in the rise of crust punk, a style within the punk rock subgenre that fuses extreme metal with anarcho-punk. They recorded for Peaceville Records and are cited as an early precursor to the grindcore style of heavy metal music. Doom were also a favorite of BBC Radio DJ John Peel...taken from Wikipedia.

SKIN CHAMBER

Skin Chamber was one of side projects of Controlled Bleeding members Paul Lemos and Chris Moriarty. Unlike Controlled Bleeding, Skin Chamber had a distinct guitar-based sound that was similar in tone to early Swans (cited by the band as their main influence), the music was also influenced by extreme metal and grindcore. Skin Chamber was not dissimilar to the band’s other side projects, namely Fat Hacker and Joined at the Head...taken from Wiki.

INFEST

Infest was an influential American hardcore band, formed in September 1986 by Joe Denunzio, Matt Domino, Dave Ring and Chris Clift. They disbanded in 1996. Infest, while not coining the term "powerviolence", were pioneers of the style. The Los Angeles quartet blended the ethos, speed and song structure of straight edge hardcore, along with the aggression and anger of bands like Negative Approach and Negative FX. Joe Denunzio’s vocals exhibited angst, with lyrical content about conformity, war, scene politics and socio-political issues, mostly delivered in an accusational assault. Infest did however differ from their peers in their fervent political stance and imagery, often depicting the tragedies of war and poverty, countering the obligatory "band in action" album covers common to the era. On July 1, 1991, Infest recorded a live set for the Los Angeles radio station KXLU. This session was later released by Deep Six Records who also released the No Man's Slave LP.
