Brain Drill is an American death metal band formed in 2005 from Ben Lomond, California. They are signed to Metal Blade Records and released their full length debut album entitled Apocalyptic Feasting on February 5, 2008. In support of their debut, disagreements were engaged and members began to leave, which lead to rumors that Brain Drill was disbanding on March 19, 2008. Founding member Dylan Ruskin originally stated Brain Drill was finished when the other three band members left, but the group recovered with a full line-up once more. Steve Rathjen rejoined less than two weeks after leaving. Also, a new drummer named Joe Bondra (who was subsequently replaced by Ron Casey), and a new bassist named Ivan Munguia joined the band. Brain Drill released their follow-up full-length titled Quantum Catastrophe in 2010 with this line up... taken from Wikipedia.

IMPALED NAZARENE

Impaled Nazarene is a Finnish black metal band that incorporates elements of grindcore in their sound and punk rock in their aesthetics. The band is currently signed to Osmose Productions of France. When asked about the origin of their name, Mika Luttinen stated in an interview that he had read a pamphlet about Christ appearing to be a vampire. He got to thinking about how impaling a vampire is one of the only ways to kill them, and thus, thought of the name "Impaled Nazarene".[citation needed] The band was infamous for seeming to hate the Norwegian black metal scene back in the early 1990s however the band now seems to disassociate with such hatred. It has been ascertained that the origin of such "hate" was the fact that singer Mika Luttinen had been subjected to telephone pranks by members of fellow Finnish metalheads Beherit, which he interpreted as "attacks" from members of the Norwegian black metal scene. They also stopped wearing corpse paint in the mid 1990s due to it being "too trendy". In 2003, guitarist Teemu Raimoranta died falling – or jumping – off a bridge on the ice below. Although officially stated to be caused by intoxication, Mika Luttinen speculated it was suicide... taken from Wikipedia.

DESULTORY

Desultory was part of the first wave of Swedish death metal bands, alongside Entombed, Dismember, and others. Into Eternity, their Metal Blade debut following a lesser-known EP release, is standard for the genre, energetic and forceful, straddling the line between the more brutal American death style and the melodic Gothenburg variety. Though not groundbreaking, it was considered a fine album by fans. By most accounts, their followup, Bitterness, is more of the same, but 1996's Swallow the Snake takes quite a different approach, dropping the death vocals (and, for the most part, death metal itself), for a more heavy rock sound likened by some to Soundgarden. Having been dropped by Metal Blade, they disappeared, but the three members from the Snake album recruited a new fourth member and, continuing the progression from that last album, continued on as the rock act Zebulon, releasing one EP and 2 LPs... taken from Wikipedia.

CARBONIZED

The oddity known as Carbonized was formed by Lars Rosenberg in 1998, and featured Dismember vocalist Matti Karki its early stages. Joined by drummer Piotr Wawrzeniuk, the trio was completed by Therion mainmain Cristofer Johnsson, who originally agreed to only perform session guitarwork but eventually became a full-time member. Quite different from anything that any of the members would become involved in later, the three albums ran the gamut from psychedelic grindcore on For The Security to dischordant jazz-metal weirdness on the excellent Disharmonization to something apparently even stranger yet on Screaming Machines (the album is not reviewed here, but a quote from Johnsson himself describes Screaming Machines as "the worst of Sonic Youth, Syd Barret era Pink Floyd, old Black Flag, and Voivod"). Even the most conventional of the three (Security) has an odd feel about it, as it's quite apparent that Rosenberg and friends were experimenting with sounds and styles that unfortunately never caught on. Disharmonization is not for everyone, it's not an easy listen and its quirkiness sometimes gets the best of it, but it's also quite an interesting and cool album, with its clear (but not particularly melodic) vocal style adding to the strangeness. Both Rosenberg and Wawrzeniuk were later recruited by Johnsson into Therion for a time, and the two also paired up in the doom band Serpent... taken from http://www.bnrmetal.com

GOREFEST

Gorefest was a Dutch band from the Zeeland region of the Netherlands which was founded in 1988 as a death metal outfit by De Koeyer, Harthoorn, van Schaik and Hoogendoorn. Within two months of existence these four death metal enthusiasts recorded a death metal demo featuring one of the most low-pitched and cavernous voices ever heard in death metal. A Dutch independent label, Foundation 2000, signed them for one album. Before recording Mindloss they first released another demo in 1990, which also received positive feedback. As a supporting act for Carcass they travelled through Belgium and the Netherlands impressing the metal-scene also on stage. CRIPPLE BASTARD

Cripple Bastards is a grindcore band from Asti, Italy. They were formed in 1988 in order to keep their area on the hardcore map as most of the other bands around them were breaking up. They were formed by vocalist Giulio the Bastard and guitarist Alberto the Crippler. They were initially a metal-influenced punk band called Grimcorpses. However, they were not satisfied with their music and soon decided to make their style more extreme, which was accompanied by a name change. They combined hardcore and metal influences with grindcore, but still managed to sound different than many other grindcore bands at the time. Their first demo shares the tape with two other bands, which also include members of Cripple Bastards. A few more tracks and demos were recorded after this. The band also played various venues including their first ever international concert in Croatia...taken from WIKIPEDIA.

NECRONY

Necrony was a cult death/grind band from Sweden which formed in 1991. They fit into the classic gore/death/grind genre along with bands such as (old) Carcass, (old) Exhumed, Haemorrhage, etc. Necrony began their short-lived career with the release of the "Mucu-Purulent Miscarriage" EP and the "Severe Malignant Pustule" demo; both in 1991. Two years later the band released their first and only full-length album entitled "Pathological Performances." After the release of the Necronyism: Distorting the Originals EP (a nod to their obvious Carcass influences) which was comprised entirely of cover songs, and an untitled promo-tape in 1994 (re-released in 2000 as "Under the Black Soil"), the band broke up. Political grindcore band Nasum, formed in 1992, was originally a side-project of Jakobson and Alriksson's. This, however, changed with Necrony's demise, and Nasum became their primary focus...

HAEMORRHAGE

Haemorrhage is a five-piece goregrind band from Madrid, Spain. Formed in 1990 as Devourment, Haemorrhage began its life as a trio, with Jose on bass and vocals, Luisma on guitar, and Emilio on drums, though this only lasted until the summer of 1991, when Emilio left the band. The group soon reformed, this time as duo, with Luisma again playing the role of guitarist and Jose taking over as drummer, with both performing vocals, and released their first demo as Haemorrhage, Grotesque Embryopathology. Near the end of 1993, Lugubrious and Ramon joined the band as vocalist and bassist, respectively. Between 1994 and 1995, Haemorrhage recorded a seven song promo tape, which was sent to Morbid Records and resulted in a two-album contract, welcomed guitarist Ana, and recorded their first release, Emetic Cult. However, Jose left in the following year due to personal issues and was replaced by Rojas. After releasing five studio albums on Morbid Records the band gets signed to Relapse Records which put out their new disc "Hospital Carnage". Haemorrhage are, like many goregrind bands, heavily influenced by Carcass, yet still have an identity all their own. Live shows typically feature band members sporting surgeon's outfits and vocalist Lugubrious covered in blood, which is common in goregrind and death metal scenes. Artwork is almost exclusively done by guitarist Luisma...taken from WIKIPEDIA.

PSYOPUS

Psyopus (sometimes written as PsyOpus) is a mathcore band from Rochester, New York. Formed in 2002, the band is noted for the unorthodox and extremely technical guitar techniques of Christopher Arp, often referred to as "Arpmandude". In order to receive endorsement deals from various guitar and amp companies, Arp had to send a live video of himself playing in order to prove that he could actually play as fast as he does. Arp considers Psyopus to be a very technically proficient band: "I understand people not understanding us so by default the music comes across as noise but, the music makes sense to us all too much and every 16th note was scrutinized." Regarding learning to play guitar, Arp says: "I learned to play guitar in my bedroom. I got my first guitar in eighth grade. I bought Metallica tablature books, Megadeth books, guitar magazines, didn’t do homework and just played guitar all night." The band released their 2nd album Our Puzzling Encounters Considered in February 2007. The techniques Arp uses have made it even more difficult to receive any endorsement. Arp himself said, "Mesa Boogie has not done very much to sponsor me because I do too much of this," as he raised his guitar by the whammy bar shaking it up and down. The band released their third studio album Odd Senses, on February 17, 2009...taken from WIKIPEDIA.
